"More than anything, we love to eat (in fact, right now, we might actually be eating). But most of all, we enjoy eating the food that we grew up with in Puerto Rico, our small caribbean island with a huge flavor profile. We find joy in coming together, putting some Salsa on the radio, and whipping up some delicious dishes like mofongo (mashed plantains), pernil (roasted pork), arroz con gandules (rice and pigeon peas), and something sweet such as flan or tres leches. Sometimes we cook our grandmother’s recipes, and other times from traditional Puerto Rican cookbooks. Most of the time, however, we are thinking of new recipes by bringing our authentic dishes and combining them with the southern food we have come to know and love in North Carolina. 
Spanglish is not just our unofficial language, but also our way of cooking."
