Friday Night on White - Smile

Friday Night on White is coming back for more and rolling into May with music from the Smile!!

Here's some info from the town:

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join your friends and neighbors in downtown Wake Forest for another incredible season of Friday Night on White.

Presented by White Street Brewing Co., Friday Night on White typically takes place along South White Street on the second Friday of each month from April through September. The free concerts run from 6-9 p.m. and feature a variety of premier local bands. Please note: Due to Good Friday falling on the second Friday in April, the 2017 series will get underway on April 28. The remaining concerts will occur on the second Friday of each month from May through September.

In addition, several downtown merchants offer a variety of special discounts, programs, and activities.

Volunteers are needed to perform a variety of roles.

Come join your friends and family and enjoy the music of some of our area's finest musicians while taking in the great atmosphere of Downtown Wake Forest.

 

2017 Band Line-Up

Bands will play rock and roll covers from classic to modern rock, with a little funk and original music thrown in.

 

 

Know Before You Go

Schedule

  • Concerts get underway at 6 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m.

  • Last call for outside beer is 8:50 p.m.

  • Festivities along South White Street end at 9:30 p.m.


Food

  • While you're downtown, you're invited to visit the variety of outstanding dining establishments in downtown Wake Forest or enjoy delicious food from a variety of food trucks that will be on site. Food and dessert trucks scheduled to participate on April 28: American Meltdown, Bam Pow Chow, Charlie’s Kabob Grill on Wheels, Cousins Maine Lobster, Fuzzy’s Empanadas, Kona Ice, Lumpy’s Ice Cream, Stuft, Sweet Traditions, VFW Chuckwagon, and Virgil’s Jamaica.

    • owntown restaurants include Back Alley Coffee Roasters, Backfins Crabhouse, The Burger Shop, Domino’s Pizza, The Forks Cafeteria, Hardee’s, LaForesta Italian Café & Pizzeria, Las Margaritas, The Lemon Tree, Lumpy’s Ice Cream, Olde English Tea Room, Olies, Over The Falls, Pizza Amore, Shorty’s Famous Hot Dogs, and Wake Forest Coffee Co.


Food Truck

  • The Town of Wake Forest is accepting applications from food truck vendors interested in participating in Friday Night on White through Friday, Feb. 17. Food and dessert trucks scheduled to participate on April 28 will be announced in April 2017.

Beverages

  • Beer and wine are available for purchase. Age identification will be checked for beer and wine.

  • All transactions for beer and wine are with White Street Brewing Co. tokens.

  • Tokens are $5 each - including tax

  • Beer may be purchased with White Street Brewing Co. tokens at the following locations:

    • White Street Brewing Co. beer truck located in the Owen Avenue extension - in between B&W Hardware and Pizza Amore

    • White Street Brewing Co. beer truck located at the intersection of South White Street and East Jones Avenue

    • Inside White Street Brewing Co., 218 S. White St.

  • Wine must be purchased and consumed inside White Street Brewing Co.

  • Soft drinks and bottled water are available for purchase with cash only at the Wake Forest Police Department Explorer Post 401 tent. The tent is located along Owen Avenue - adjacent to the food and dessert trucks.


Parking

  • Free parking is available along several side streets and parking lots in downtown Wake Forest, including Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.


Items Allowed

  • Bring a lawn chair and blanket - but please leave your coolers and outside alcoholic beverages at home.

Friday Night on White App
Android and iPhone users can have a handy pocket guide to Friday Night on White in the palm of their hands by downloading the Town of Wake Forest app and utilizing the app’s "Friday Night on White" function. Designed to offer smart phone users instant access to important details about this year's outdoor music series, the function includes the complete 2016 concert schedule, the lineup of participating food and dessert trucks, parking information, weather updates and more. 

IPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android users can download the town’s free app by searching for “Town of Wake Forest" on iTunes, in the iPhone app store, or in Google Play or by scanning the appropriate QR code.


Weather Updates
Friday Night on White concerts are scheduled to take place rain or shine. However, in the event of inclement weather on the day of a concert, a decision on whether to proceed will be made no later than 3 p.m. Updated concert information will be posted on the town’s Facebook pageand available by calling the Wake Forest Weather Line at 919-435-9569.

Smart phone users who have downloaded the Town of Wake Forest app will receive a push notification message concerning any schedule changes.
