March 10th, 2018

11am-5pm

Downtown Wake Forest, NC

Exceeding expectations. That’s what a great festival experience is all about.

While a heated competition between true barbecue competitors is the basis of the festival, the ultimate focus is to connect the community and provide a unique experience.

In addition to tasting a sampling of several styles, varieties and flavors of barbecue, festivalgoers will experience hands-on demonstrations, equipment showcases, recipe formulations, technique discussions and unmatched interaction with the cooks.

From beef and chicken to pork and sausage and from open flame to smoke-cooked or cast iron prepared, this barbecue experience will showcase it all.

Be a Part of the Experience

Whether you are a team, judge, vendor, or volunteer there are amazing opportunities to bring an incredible experience to our small town.

Backyard Contest Application

Judge Application

The judges are full for this year's contest! You can still be put on the waitlist by applying at the KCBS event page.

Vendor Application

We are accepting food vendors and non-food vendors to serve during the festival. Preference will be given to food vendors serving barbecue (kinda obvious) and to non-food vendors that relate to the theme of the event. Acceptance will occur on an individual basis.

Volunteer Application

We would love your help to make the White Street BBQ Experience the friendliest and best run event possible. Here's your chance to be a part of the White Street Crew for a day!

KCBS Backyard Contest

At the heart of the White Street BBQ Experience is the KCBS Sanctioned Backyard Contest. Featuring 20 teams from the area and across the nation, this contest will fill the streets of Downtown Wake Forest with more talent than the amount of smoke!

The categories are chicken and ribs with a People's Choice contest featuring pork. The People's Choice allows 500 festival goers to go up to each team, taste their amazing food and get to interact with the cooks who toiled all night to nail their signature flavors.

Cash prizes totaling $14,000 are awarded to the top five places in each category as well as trophies. The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion prizes will be given to the teams with the highest collective scores from the chicken and ribs categories.

11:00am: Johnny Orr Band

Johnny Orr Band

North Carolina is known for the creative musical talent it has sent to the world stage, and Raleigh’s Johnny Orr Band (JOB) is on its way to seeing its name added to the list of renowned contemporary Country acts. Formed in 2007 by dynamic vocalist and main songwriter Johnny Orr, guitarist/vocalist Gino Latarulo and bassist/vocalist Jack Getz, later adding drummer Bill Eagen, JOB has opened for Kenny Chesney, the Zac Brown Band, Little Big Town, Gretchen Wilson, Parmalee, Cole Swindell, Tyler Farr, Jason Michael Carroll and more. In 2012 the band won the prestigious American Country Star talent competition in Nashville, starting a buzz that has opened the doors for the band to take its career to the next level with its new EP, DOWN SOUTH.

Matt Phillips & The Back Pocket

Matt Phillips & the Back Pocket is a funkadellic bunch of Carrboro session musicians. Drawing from their experience playing jazz, classical, folk, gospel & world music, mp&p shows will lift your spirits & make your head rock. Matt will tell you the hardest truths in the sweetest way: “I must be onto something, ‘cause I smile when I play the blues.”

3:00 PM: Crossoverdrive

Crossoverdrive

Any CROSSOVERDRIVE set will boldly weave a fabric of icons seemingly pulled from the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame itself... you can groove to an Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd tune, a jumpin current hit by Pink, No Doubt or Lenny Kravitz & slide into revived versions of great 60's & 70's party favorites by Santana, Three Dog Night or the Rolling Stones and so much more.

This band is seriously ALIVE and makes these songs their own! Reverance stirred with wild enthusiasm this band is relevant for anyone with 2 ears & a beating heart. Seriously, I'm not sure I've seen a band cover this much ground!

Kris' amazing lead vocals are worth it alone, but add Bobby's bold, blues riffs, Tim's razor-sharp, melodic guitar playin, Troy's ultra poppin, funky bass & Chris' big-energy, deep pocket drum grooves... catch the big band with horns, percussion and extra vocalists - PAPOW!! Do yourself a favor & Check Em Out!!
